Pinterest

Are you on Pinterest?  I am!  If not, you should be!  What is Pinterest you ask? Straight from their Pinning 101-
Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.
People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and share their favorite recipes.
I love pinning crafting items, my dream home ideas and fun holiday decorations and recipes. I love that there is a Pinterest app for iPhone.  It is one of my go to apps when I'm feeding Cole in the middle of the night! One of my boards is "Make for baby" and I really do want to make all (OK, I don't have the time with a full time job and a 3 month old!) some of this stuff!  Kirk also loves to cook, so I'm hoping he makes more than a few things from my "Cookies, Cakes & Cupcakes" or my "yummy" boards! We want to get a "Saw it, Pinned it, Made it" weekly (or biweekly... because life with both of us working full time and a new baby is crazy! lol) feature on the blog, linking back to the pinned project and pictures, and maybe step by steps, of our version of these pins!

Screen cap of my latest pins, I love the iPhone app!
Do you have your own "Saw it, Pinned it, Made it"?  I'd love to hear about it and see pictures if you have them!

Jillie Beanie Designs Contest

Hey everyone!  As most of you know, I have an Esty shop, Jillie Beanie Designs.  I am trying to bring in more business to my shop and earn some income as I am currently on an unpaid maternity leave.  The big thing we are trying to save money for is my best friend's wedding.  She is getting married June 16th, and currently we can only afford for me to go.... problem with that is that we have a newborn, and I definitely can't take him without Kirk.  I would prefer to drive up there, as the baby will need a lot of stuff, plus our stuff, plus my bridesmaid dress & all that, I don't want a ton of luggage to fly with and then have to deal with getting a rental anyway when we get to Iowa. Any travel advice is much appreciated as 45 minutes is the furthest we have traveled with the baby!  It's about 22 hours from here to the wedding!

This is where you and the contest comes into play! From now until  midnight on Saturday May 12 we will be running a contest through Jillie Beanie Designs.  For every order you place, or every order you refer to us, you will get an entry into the drawing.  In order to earn the entry your name MUST be in the "notes to seller box during the order.  Otherwise I can't track your referrals! If the order is over $25 before discounts, shipping & tax you'll earn two entries!  Each day I will update this post with the leader board, everyone loves a little competition!!

As an added perk: I'm giving 15% off anything you order- just use the coupon code WEDDING

This is the perfect time for Mother's Day, wedding, prom, birthday, Christmas stock up, or whatever you want shopping! :)

If you're not interested in shopping or referring, but still want to be a part of the contest don't worry!  You can donate to my PayPal account, same guidelines- entry for a donation, 2 entries for donations over $25. Just click the button below!

Prize update: I'll pick two winners, prize #1 is your choice of anything in Jillie Beanie Designs; prize #2 5 6-piece Chicken McNugget certificates from McDonald's!

Big sewing project for the new year

One of my resolutions for the New Year (not that I really make them) is to use my sewing machine more.  That means more fun projects!

Over at the KellyRachel blog, I stumbled across an awesome tutorial on making a bag and lots of smaller accessories that go with the bag.  It's an 8 week project, but we'll see how long it actually takes me to do.  I'm almost finished with one of my baby projects, and I'm hoping to start this one this week or so!  Stay tuned because I will be posting my progress here on the blog.  If you are interested in checking out the tutorial, sewing along with me, or to see the finished projects without waiting for me, click the make sew along logo (that I will be including with each of my posts as well)

The big question....

Is Baby D a boy or a girl?  Well, good news... we found out today.  A whole week and a half early, woohoo!  However, as super excited as we are over that news- it didn't leave me time to post my poll.... so ya'll have to wait until I get some guesses.  We're giving until Sunday afternoon. Then we'll do the big reveal :)  So either leave your comments here on the blog, or head over to our facebook page and leave your answer in our poll.

My First Giveaway!

I'm hosting my first blog giveaway with some exciting prizes from Sea-Band! For those who haven't been paying attention, or have just forgotten, I'm pregnant!  One of the joys that comes along with being pregnant is the morning sickness and nausea.

Just in time for my pregnancy, I was able to participate in a review of Sea-Band wristbands along with some Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Ginger Gum.  I've had pretty good results with the wristbands, mostly when I'm traveling in the car (it's about an hour each way for work, 5 days a week).  Due to Disney's costuming policy, I'm not able to wear them at work; but I've been very fortunate that I haven't been too bad at work.  On the other side, when I had some of the anti-nausea ginger gum, it made me sick.  It may have been that I took them to late for them to work and I was going to be sick anyway, but it turned me off of them.  I do highly recommend the wristbands and still recommend the ginger gum though because everyone is different and it could work great for your nausea!

Are You Pregnant, Suffering from Morning Sickness and Looking for a Drug-Free Remedy? Let Sea-Band, Drug Free Nausea Relief Bands, Put the Pressure on Morning Sickness So You Can Enjoy Being Pregnant
Morning sickness maybe considered as a right of passage for pregnant women, but the nausea can temporarily put your life on hold . Studies show morning sickness affects nearly three quarters of all pregnant women; however, the only problem (despite the name!) is that it doesn’t always come in the morning. It can happen anytime – morning, day or night – making it difficult and sometimes impossible for pregnant women to carry on with their everyday responsibilities like working, caring for other children, etc. Here’s where FDA approved Sea-Band Drug-Free Nausea Relief Bands can help!

How Sea-Band Works…
Approved by the FDA, Sea-Band is the leading drug-free remedy for morning sickness, motion sickness, chemotherapy nausea and post-operative nausea. Most recently, a 2010 study, carried out at a German clinic specializing in migraine and headache therapy, showed that Sea-Band wristbands significantly reduced nausea and vomiting: 83% noticed perceptible reduction and 44% found their symptoms markedly reduced.
Sea-Band works by exerting constant, gentle pressure on a point on the inner wrist known as the Pericardium 6 (P6) acupressure point. It brings effective relief within five minutes of being applied and can be used before or after the onset of nausea. The all-natural, drug-free, latex-free Sea-Band does not cause the side-effects often associated with anti-nausea medication such as drowsiness, disorientation, dry mouth or possible interactions with other drugs. It’s safe for pregnant women, children, and patients taking prescription medications. Packaged in a convenient carry-case, they are washable and reusable, and available a variety of colors in sizes for adults and children.
Click here to watch an informative video about how Sea-Band wristbands work.  In addition, the company also offers Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Ginger Gum, for fast nausea relief with fresh, uplifting flavor.

Sea-Band products are available in the U.S. in Walmart, Target, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, as well as in Canada in Overwaitea, IDA, Familiprix, Guardian and other independent drugstores or pharmacies throughout North America or online at drugstore.com and athttp://www.sea-band.com/shop.
Suggested retail price is $10.99 per pair in the US, and $12.99 in Canada.

Now we get into the fun part, the giveaway!  This giveaway is open to the residents of the United States and Canada. The giveaway will end on 10/30/11 at 12:01am EST.

I was given a pair of Sea-Band Wristbands and a pack of Sea-Band Anti-Nausea Ginger Gum though My Blog Spark to review for this giveaway.  All opinions in this post are 100% mine, please see my disclosure policy for more information.

Branching Out

After attending the Central Florida Bloggers Conference a few weeks ago, I've decided to put one of the many things I learned to use- creating a Facebook page for my blog. Surprising to some of you fellow bloggers, there are people out there who haven't heard of, or just don't understand, blogging.  However, those same people are on Facebook EVERYDAY!  So what better way to get your blog out in front of other eyes than to create a Facebook fan page for it?  Be sure to check it out and let me know, here or there, what you'd like to see over there! Don't forget that you can also like the Facebook fan page straight from the blog- just check out the right hand column!
